Home - About ## Who we help Curtain & Blind Design is the trading name of Adey Interiors Ltd, led by Katherine Adey. We work for homeowners who have reached the point where off-the-shelf window dressing will not do the job: bay windows that need three pairs to read as one, sash windows two and a half metres tall, awkward returns, stairwell glazing, and rooms where the curtains have to answer to existing joinery and flooring. Alongside private homes we make to repeatable specifications for developments, lettings and show homes through contract curtains and voiles. ## What we specialise in Bespoke curtains, Roman blinds, automated blinds, curtain poles and tracks, reupholstery and soft furnishings, made to measure and fitted by us. Katherine is an automation specialist with many years of experience supplying motorised curtains and blinds, from a single electric blind to a full house-wide integrated system. Tracks, motors, controls and power routes are specified alongside the fabric, so everything works beautifully from the day it is fitted. Schemes can be operated by remote, wall switch, phone app or schedule, and integrated with home systems such as Lutron and Control4. Past work includes a fully automated scheme on a Silent Gliss track, and wave-pleated blackout curtains on an electric track with app control and scheduling. We work closely with electricians, architects and builders, so wiring is planned before walls are finished. Rather than selecting from a catalogue in a showroom, fabrics are brought to your home and judged against your walls, flooring and daylight. Measurements are taken at the same visit, so the specification is settled in one place with the room in front of us. Katherine is passionate about finding exactly the right fabric for every client. With an extensive library of fabric books, she brings a curated selection to your home and views each option under the different lights of the room, from morning daylight to evening lamps, because lighting differs in every property. The aim is simple: that you are truly delighted with the finished result and love it in every light. What follows is a clear specification: fabric, heading style, fullness, lining and interlining weight, hardware and finish. Nothing is cut until you have seen and understood it. Colour decisions made in a showroom rarely survive the journey home. ### Specified before anything is cut Fabric, heading, fullness, lining, interlining, hardware and finish are written down and confirmed with you. Nothing is cut until you understand what you are getting and why. ### Hardware treated as part of the job Poles and tracks are chosen for the weight and span they have to carry, then supplied and fitted by us, so the curtain and the thing holding it up are one decision, not two. ## The four sides of the business Transforming properties for over 15 years. A free in-home consultation with a large selection of pattern books covers both contemporary and traditional designs, and we manage the full process from consultation through to installation using experienced workrooms, curtain fitters and electricians. ### Commercial Experienced in working with architects and builders on large-scale projects, sourcing and developing bespoke products for challenging commercial situations in partnership with quality manufacturers. ### Automation Specialist Katherine is an automation specialist, with many years of experience supplying motorised blinds and curtains, from a single motorised blind to a full house-wide integrated system. ### Upholstery A full upholstery service, including re-springing and foam replacement for cushions and chair seats.
